Hobbs & Co of London, c1860 and of royal proportions, an early Victorian, oak sarcophagus shaped wine cooler.
Decorated with a front facing hand carved embellishment and 2 large carved lion heads with wooden carrying rings to each end.
The large lid retains its original brass hardware, stamped by Royal Appointment, showing its Hobbs Of London makers lozenge.
The lid is held in place by its brass keep with various toothed sections for height selection.
The back has its original brass castors for moving, the inside is solid with no signs of ever having a leak.
A later period liner can be included in the sale if required.
