Salesman’s Coffee Trunk
Sold
A very decorative, rare find.
A travelling country salesman’s safe “At the Caiffa Planter”.
The “Caiffa” was a factory that had carts to carry the trunks pulled by dogs or donkeys which travelled from farm to farm selling coffee and other groceries.
The salesman often spent the night in the peasants barns before continuing on his way the next morning.
The trunk is completely original and untouched and has a solid wooden carcass with metal covering and original hand written paintwork.
Complete with the original hooks to attach the dogs/donkeys.
Now a very decorative and useful storage box.
Origin: French
Period: c1870
