Asylum Lantern

An early 1900s glass lantern which came from the abandoned St Marys lunatic asylum in Stannington, Northumberland.
Reverse painted glass which can be illuminated with its original oil burner.
Complete with its wrought iron frame and post attachment.
At the time there was a rail line into the asylum and by the nature and design of the lantern it was likely illuminated on the railway platform.
